Replace Windows Explorer with Multicommander

Microsoft Windows Explorer is great for general file management tasks. However, there are several more complicated tasks that Windows Explorer is unable to handle. This is where Multi Commandercan come in handy. Multi Commander is a fantastic and free file manager that allows you to manage your files and perform many tasks not possible through Windows Explorer. In the below picture, is an example of the Multi Commander interface. As can be seen, the interface is very similar to Windows Explorer with additional features such as multiple panes, tabs, and buttons

Multi Commander

Some of the many features in Multi Commander

  • Compare the right and left file explorers with each other and show what is different.
  • Built using Extension/Plug-in architecture that allows for almost any imaginable feature to be added.
  • Easily filter and copy or move only the files specified in the filter.
  • Excellent keyboard support for anyone who enjoys keyboard shortcuts or just avoiding the mouse.
  • Convert files between Unix (LF), Windows (CRLF), and Mac (CR) format.
  • Browse and read files within a RAR without extracting the files.
  • Quickly change a file or folder name to all lowercase, all uppercase, or Camel case.
  • Browse, update, and modify the system registry.
  • Create and verify the MD5 and SFV (CRC32) Checksum of files using the MC-Checksum extension.
  • Tab support to have multiple folders open at once.
  • Script engine support to create scripts to automate tasks.
  • FTP support.
  • Save and load a selection of files and folders to memory or to a file.

Santa Banta Joke…Differentiate the horses..!

Santa and Banta bought two horses.
Now the problem was that they could not differentiate between the two horses.
So,one day Santa cuts the left ear of his horse, so that it is easy to know that it is his horse. When he does so,an enemy of Santa sees him doing so.
This enemy cuts the left ear of Banta s horse. Santa and banta are confused.
So, next thing Santa cuts some body part of his horse and his enemy repeats the same on Bantas horse.
At last Santa s horse had no legs left and Banta s horse was with one leg only.
The enemy also went and cut Banta s horse one leg. So, in the morning it was the same sitaution , How to differentiate between their horses. So, after thinking and putting lots of effort to their mind - Santa said - O.K You keep the black one and I shall keep the white .

Average Internet Speed Increases in India..!

The average Internet speed in India is likely to jump by over 40 per cent to 1.8 Mbps in the next 12 months on the back of investments in high-speed fibre network and affordable data plans, cloud computing firm Akamai Technologies said in a report.

Internet

In the first quarter of 2013, India saw an average connection speed of 1.3 Mbps (megabytes per second).

"Based on current industry growth trends, we expect a 40 per cent to 50 per cent increase in connection speed over the next 12 months. This translates to anything between 1.7 to 1.8 Mbps," Akamai Technologies Director of Products for Asia Pacific and Japan Bruno Goveas said.

The country witnessed an average speed 1.0 Mbps in the first quarter of 2012. "Thus, there has been a 0.3 Mbps increase over the last one year," Goveas added.

The global average connection speed continued to grow in the first quarter of 2013, increasing 4 per cent to 3.1 Mbps, said Akamai Technologies' State of the Internet report.

Goveas said connection speeds to the last mile (at home) have increased in the recent months, given the investments by telcos, cable operators and service providers in laying high-speed fiber direct to homes and apartments and offering high connection speed data plans, especially in urban areas.

"Many users now get online via mobile phones. High speed data plans are very affordable with some innovative data plan offerings from service providers. Hence, we expect to see a rise is high speed connections," Goveas added.

Corporates are upgrading their bandwidth speeds to keep up with their growth and demand and it also helps that bandwidth is getting cheaper, it added.

"We expect growth in speeds from users in Tier II and Tier III cities as well, and not just Tier I, given the investments from telecom companies , and with users accessing the Internet from mobile phones," Goveas said.

Does Micro SD Class makes any Difference…?

SD memory card manufacturers use different types of flash memory to create an SD memory card, so actual transfer speed can vary. Varying speeds make it difficult to determine which card will provide reliable recording of streaming content. Recording video require a constant minimum write speed to ensure a smooth playback. The SD Association defines Speed Class standards indicated by speed symbols to help consumers decide what card will provide the required minimum performance for reliability. There are two kinds of speed indications regarding SD bus generation:

Speed Class and UHS Speed Class* symbols indicate minimum writing performance to ensure smooth writing of streaming content such as video shooting. This is important mainly for camcorders, video recorders and other devices with video recording capabilities.

Speed Class designates minimum writing performance to record video. The Speed Classes defined by the SD Association are Class 2, 4, 6 and 10.

UHS Speed Class is designed for UHS** products only.

* (Speed Class and the UHS Speed Class are not compatible.)

**UHS (Ultra High Speed), the fastest performance category available today, defines bus-interface speeds up to 312 Megabytes per second for greater device performance. It is available on SDXC and SDHC memory cards and devices.

Marks Operable Under... Applications SD Memory Card
Speed Class 10 High Speed Bus I/F Full HD video recording
HD still consecutive recording
SD, miniSD, microSD
SDHC, miniSDHC, microSDHC
SDXC, microSDXC
6 4 Normal Bus I/F HD ~ Full HD video recording
2 SD video recording
UHS Speed Class 1 UHS-I Bus I/F Full higher potential of recording real-time broadcasts and capturing large-size HD videos SDHC UHS-I and SDXC UHS-I

SD Speed Compatibility

It’s important to remember that Speed Class and UHS Speed Class are two different speed indication symbols for different devices. However, a UHS-I memory card may also indicate a Speed Class.

Use these cards with these products

The host device Speed Class requirements are minimum requirements for optimum performance. If your host device requires a Speed Class 4 SD memory card, you can use Speed Class 4, 6 or 10 SD memory cards. If your host device requires a Speed Class 6 SD memory card, you can use Speed Class 6 or 10 SD memory cards.

Fragmentation and Speed

The memory of a card is divided into minimum memory units. The device writes data onto memory units where no data is already stored. As available memory becomes divided into smaller units through normal use, this leads to an increase in non-linear, or fragmented storage. The amount of fragmentation can reduce write speeds, so faster SD memory card speed standards help compensate for fragmentation.

The SD Association developed standards specifying various operating conditions for SDHC, SDXC, SDHC UHS and SDXC UHS memory cards to guarantee the minimum speed according to the card's speed class. Speed symbols are provided to help identify cards that comply with these standards.
